Balloon Invasion Walkthrough

Introduction: Hey all, it's that time of the year again! Balloon Invasion is yet another arcade style game with RPG elements added to it, and I've decided to make another walkthrough to help you all destroy all of those balloons. I will try to get to the two impossible conditions, but it might take a while. I'll try to make this walkthrough step-by-step, but since it's a different type of game, it might be formatted a little differently, with general tips to aid you along the way. I am making this walkthrough as I play through the game, and since I'm jumping right into elite difficulty, I might have to restart the entire walkthrough because of a skill build issue or something, so bear with me. For now, I'll just try to post my notes and observations on the game as I progress.

Upgrades:

Shell Damage and Firing Speed both directly affect how much damage you can do. The more points you put into these two, the more damage you will be dishing out.

Ammo Capacity and Reload Speed affect how long you can do that damage for. The more points you put into these two, the longer you will be able to keep on doing that damage.

Accuracy and Shell Speed influence how much your attacks will actually hit the balloons. The more points you put into these two, the better chance you have at hitting them.

Now, I think that the most important thing is to be able to keep on attacking constantly for a long time before running low on ammo. The only thing that makes you run out of ammo is upgrading your firing speed. So basically, you have to have a balence of firing speed to reload speed balance, while putting some into your ammo capacity to be able to sustain it longer.

Elite Difficulty Walkthrough Notes

In my first attempt at this game, I tried to upgrade only the main cannon (accuracy, flak bombs, and whatnot), and it worked up until the first boss, where i got destroyed on the last wave. I'm going to try to beat the game through a modified version of this strategy.

I was able to beat all four levels up to the boss without using any airstrikes (since using airstrikes makes you get less prestige early on) with my upgraded cannon, except for the big blimps, where i basically spammed the first one, used the second one when it got near the middle, and used the third one where there weren't any small guys near it.

The first boss seems to OHKO your initial cannon if you let it get to it. I was thinking that you either had to build secondary cannons in order to tank the attacks, or like someone else mentioned, upgrade your building's health and auto repair. Either way, "spam" everything you have constantly at this level. When there's more than 4 blimps on the screen, use them.

Current Walkthrough:
Level 1 results: leveled up, 4 reload speed, 3 accuracy, 3 shell dmg
Level 2 results:leveled up, 3 shell dmg 1 accuracy. Used air strikes when necessary from now on, especially on the big blimps, in order to not be damaged.
Level 3 results:Leveled up twice, 5 stars. Just did the usual, calling air strikes when necesary, mostly on big blimps.

Use the first air strike and second air strikes frequently, especially once you see the big blimp. The 3rd air strike with the planes exploding should be used right now when the blimp is closer to the middle of the screen, so the other blimps don't block the ones going for the big blimp.

General Random Things:

There are two ways to think about spending your upgrade points. You could either increase your "Prestige Income", or upgrade your survivability. I think that in order to beat elite (the first part at least), you need to have enough damage to get through the waves, so you should increase your survivability. Later on, I think you would reach a point where you can survive easily, so you could start getting the
prestige things and replay the levels if necessary for more points.

I'm not exactly sure how whether upgrading one thing from level 1 to level 2 gives as much power as upgrading something from 6 to 7, but later on, things begin to cost 2 points to upgrade instead of 1. Due to this, i usually stopped upgrading it when it cost 2 points for the next level.

You need to achieve a balance between weapon damage, firing speed, ammo capacity, and reload speed consistently throughout the game. If you have too much speed, you'll run out of bullets, and if your weapon damage or firing speed isn't high enough, you won't do enough damage. You also need just enough accuracy and bullet speed so you don't miss constantly.

Notes:
The first boss of elite is a one hit KO. IF he gets to your main cannon, you die. I think you HAVE to have a secondary cannon/building to take that hit. So whatever you do, be sure to take a building upgrade along the way. I basically upgraded my main cannon to the max and spammed the specials to get to that point.

You can survive the first boss if he hits your main cannon.
To survive his hits, you need to have upgraded the armor (I had mine up to 2-3 from memory, and I also had auto-repair upgraded as well, which meant by the time he came around and did a second attack on me I had healed enough to survive that hit as well.)

This game was a whole lot more fun when it was called Stormwinds.

Yes, I took that from the comments, but c'mon. Easy, card and medium badge. Nothing else to worry about. I would love to get the next 90 points, but the game just doesn't let me.

Unknown said...

The developers website somewhat explains how to find the secret level mentioned in the medium badge. Secret levels appear if you complete certain other levels with a full 5-star rank.

Seeing as I haven't gotten better than 2 stars on any of the levels this doesn't really help me.

Anonymous said...

Just found out what to do to get 15pts without need to fight manatee. You have to complete first 5 missions with a 5star rating each (if you don't spam support it's childishly easy)and, there will appear a secret mission. Even easier than others, 10waves, about 4 bigger balloons, including 3 in the very end. If you complete it, you have the badge. Good abbreviation if you don't bother about hard/impossible task for this particular game.

Dale, this was on elite difficulty right?

Thanks for the info Waspin.

Does anyone have the list of badges you can get? Would be interested to know . . .

Anonymous said...

Is there Anyway I can change balloon invasion files with Sol Edit ? I cant seem to find it there.

Anonymous said...

For Anonymous et al.
Here are a list of the badges I have earned so far. Notably absent is the second to last column at the top. I have no idea what these are, nor does anyone else with whom I have spoken.

There is a mathematical progression for all of them except the scene distance, so the red badge for bombs dropped is probably 8 and the final career kills is likely 10000.

Badges are listed from red to gold:
Main cannon shots: 160, 80, 40
Structures built: 9, 12, 15
Air raids: 10, 30, 50
Balloons destroyed in a row: 8, 12, 16
Scene reached: 80%, 60%, 45%
Enemy bombs dropped: ?, 4, 0
Accuracy: 70%, 80%, 90%
?: ?, ?, ?
Single battle points: 150000, 300000, 450000

Career badges: first epic battle, second epic battle, ?, ?, ?
Commander level: 12, 18, ?
?: ?, ?, ?
?: ?, ?, ?
Career kills: 1000, 5000, ?

The battle column that you're missing, hazeraven, is for oil pumped by the oil rigs. 15k/30k/45k for bronze/silver/gold.

Anonymous said...

How do you unlock the campaigns to work on the impossible badge?

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Vollkommen, I was just coming in here to post that, having only now bothered to get the oil rigs. They produce a ridiculous number of points, but seem to go dry eventually.

Looks like we can redistribute bonus points now which helps since you cap at level 24. There was an update on the developer's site letting you level past that. Guess we'll have to see if it shows up on Kongregate.

Anonymous said...

Looks like I was mistaken on the level count. You do, in fact, get promoted every 1M points after 24, it just doesn't show up on the popup tab.

Anonymous said...

iirc, the first boss will drop 5 sets of bombs, then stop. so if you have enough secondary cannons to take the hits, your main gun won't get hit at all.

Anonymous said...

3rd set of career badges in the lowest row is total number of battles won: 40, ?, ?

Wonder if anyone got anything from the 2nd set of career badges.

Anonymous said...

I'm curious about the 2nd set of career badges, too. I have all the "red to gold" badges and at least one in each of the other career badges. Anyone know?

Anonymous said...

The 2nd set of career badges is also a mystery to me. And I currently have every other badge possible so maybe it has something to do with beating the other 2 game modes.

Anonymous said...

what is the column after oil pumped and what are the stats to get bronze, silver, and gold for it.now there r 12 ? for carrer under epic battles i kno the last three r carrear kills.but the first 9 what r they and there stats. thank you.

Anonymous said...

ok well i found out about column after the oil . and i got cammder lv 12 so all i need to kno is the 6 ? after the third cammander lv24.The six question amrks before carrer kills

Anonymous said...

Alright ... I finally finished on Easy and got one of the 2nd set of career badges! I don't understand what it is, though.

The badge reads "You have won all battles with a rating of 10 or more."

So .. uh .. what the heck does that mean?! That's for the bronze one and I'd love to get the silver and gold. Any input?

Anonymous said...

Got the silver now: "You have won all battles with a rating of 14 or more"

I went back to increase my score on one of the levels. I already had 5 stars but figured I could improve my score. It consequently gave me the silver career badge. Is there a way to see what the rating is on a particular level?

Anonymous said...

well im guessing that u kno those little grey bars or bronze color bars then there r the arrows then there r the stars.im guessing each one is a level.

Anonymous said...

For enemy bombs dropped, bronze is 8.

Anonymous said...

anybody know how many secret missions there r in normal mode? because i only unlocked one and i dominated.

Anonymous said...

Granted I'm only 80% of the way through easy difficulty, but I can add some thoughts:

There are at least two hidden missions; my guess is four total.

The gold stars above completed battles are worthless. I went through the first 28 battles with 5 gold stars on each; didn't unlock any secret areas. Went back through, increased my scores, unlocked two. Still have some empty spots on the map.

And the bronze bomb one is less than 8 bombs, btw.

Anonymous said...

i got the first secret mission when i beat the yellow thing. the first epic battle because i got everything from begging to that 5stars.and im guessing when there is a empty spot on the map the size of a regular balloon im guessing 5 stars and another secret mission.i got 13 more balloon battles to go.i think my stats r decent.buildings built:413.buildings lost :250 mainflackammoshot 23,721. ammo hit:19.021. ballons shot 6,275. bombs dropped 2,581. battles won 41 winged calls 356.airstrike calls 276 support calls.363 lv 18. 9 baloon battles 5 stars. the rest is between 1 star and 3stars.

it in a sequence therefore next commander level is 24. and the battles won would be 80 then 140.then career kills would be 9000.everything is in sequence.

wheres the last 2 secret enemy operations located i kno where the first one is but where r the last two.

Anonymous said...

most of the badges/secret missions are easier to do/find in Fuel Of War. I haven't had to replay any levels yet (as I did in elite).

Anonymous said...

It seems you leveled up twice on the first level. You get 3 points to start and 4 per level-up, so you wouldn't have been able to buy 10 upgrades (totaling 11 points -- reload level 5 costs 2) after leveling up only once. Or you included the level of flak upgrades you started with, so you actually got 3 reload, 2 accuracy and 2 damage for your 7 points.

Anonymous said...

ok again where r the last two secret missions in regular easy mode.

Anonymous said...

nd-og-there are 3 red balloon mission 1.you get by 5 star on the first 5 mission 2.you get by getting 5 stars on the first five mission after the first big battle 3.you get the same way with 5 stars on 5 missons on the little island were the 3rd and final big battle take place, once you beat the last one you get a carreer badge the last on the first row.

hope that help! DEMPSEY

Anonymous said...

yes that did help thanks alot. so i take it u beat this game already?

Anonymous said...

you know it

Anonymous said...

ok i beat 6 missions after the first epic battle with 5stars and so far no red balloon.does it appear closer to the first epic battle or the second one?

Anonymous said...

DEMPSEY

Anonymous said...

W00T! i just got all the badges! :D
with 5 stars on all missions:)

Anonymous said...

i got 5stars on the first epic battle and on the first 6 after the first epic battle.do i need to get the ones before the second epic battle to unlock red balloon?

Anonymous said...

o and to Anonymous who got all missions with 5 stars and all badges congratulations.

Anonymous said...

Guys I'm doing easy mod and I think i'm fucked.
I have no building upgrades, only special and weapon upgrades.
I'm on the first boss.
I get to wave 15 and the boss fucks me.

What do I do?

Anonymous said...

save ur prestige till the end and when the boss comes build at least 5 buildings. cause then his bombs only attack that not u. then if u have enough prestige use the winged bombs.use it alot when the boss comes it will help alot.

Anonymous said...

that should help

Anonymous said...

where is the second secret mission at in easy mode?

Benedict said...

To kill 1st boss, you can also up winged bomb and up about 2-3 armour.

Anonymous said...

The second badge row is for avoiding shots with the main flak:
less then 160, 80, 40 shots.

Unknown said...

For second boss, i built 1 oil the rest rockets, upgrade all air strikes, armour and main gun upgrades. If you cant do all main gun, leave firing speed lower as reload normally limits this anyway. Boss wipes most rockets first go, leaves oil and main gun completely. Second time oil survives. Third time should wipe him out!!!
