What's Next

As Kongai has launched and many high profile games have recently been uploaded to Kongregate, namely Protector 2, The Last Stand 2, and Pandemic 2 I've been wondering, what's next?

In this post I want to look at the upcoming games that will be striking Kongregate in the short and long run. To list a few games Bubble Tanks 2, Sonny 2, Shift 3, Luxate, and Dinowaurs. Here is a look at what some of those games will bring us. (Click to enlarge any picture).

Read on for an in-depth look at all of these upcoming games

Bubble Tanks 2

How It'll Play:
In Bubble Tanks 2 you'll play again as a small tank fighting to cleanse other bubbles of the enemy tanks. Gathering the remaining bubbles and grow. The twist in this one is that you can choose upgrade paths for your Tank, from Heavy Weapons, to Balance, to Speed and Agility there are 26 different tank types, 30 different weapons and over 50 enemy types. Boasting a lengthy play time and a few run throughs to check out all the tank types.

The game is currently available on with a two week exclusivity deal. Although if the Herointeractive trend continues expect to see the game come into Kongregate fully swinging with badges and possibly a card challenge.

Sonny 2

The original captivated the Kongregate community and holds the top spot for the best game on Kongregate. With a interesting storyline and a great rpg in it's own right Sonny 2 looks to expand the story and continue with a much more expansive storyline, more enemies, weapons and attacks.

"It’s been taking such a long time because the game is bigger than Sonny in a lot of ways. We recently talked about maybe having to split the game in half since it’s become so huge. Each Zone in Sonny 2 probably has more story progression to it than the whole of Sonny 1, and there are going to be at least 6 main story Zones (unless we split it), and several other bonus Zones that will also have interesting story motifs, but not be the driving force of the plot. Think of it as “Zone 4″ but with better integration." - Taken from a recent interview from Armorblog.

The three classes have been expanded upon and all contain a separate skill tree. Sonny 2 is progressing to be another huge hit although this time we may see Sonny 2 and Sonny 3 if the story gets too involved.

Shift 3

In Shift 3 the direction is the same, black and white escapist looking to free himself. Shift 3 also comes with Player Packs of levels from assorted players, there are also more puzzles and Shifting action. Shift 3 lives by the ideaology of more of the same was never bad if the original was great. This game doesn't do much new for the franchise much like the Bloons Player Packs did for the original Bloons. The major difference in the levels is the much larger modes and how doing things in different levels effects things in other rooms. Expect to see this one hitting Kongregate soon.

A game from the developer of Buttonhunt. Achilles015 a resident in my own room of the Valley has decided to allow COCAK to be the first in the announcement of the game. He told us that the game is about 10% done and as such there is still alot we don't know although I'm building anticipation because the Buttonhunts where brilliant. The game appears to be a point and click adventure game and it too will most likely have badges considering Achilles015's luck with badge stricken games.

Ah a break from the Armor Games developmental side of the flash multiverse. Here comes Dinowaurs a game from Intuition Games and is a premium game for Kongregate. You may recognize the game from the home page banner ad that was there for a while. This game has a lot to prove being one of the first Premium Games out of the gate. I've actually been able to play it as a alpha/beta tester and it has it's issues due to it's unpolished shape although it is a great flash game and I believe it will accept great renown for it's unique taste. The game has a simple enough concept, pit two Dinosaurs together in a battle and let each other waste the other one away while fighting to control the others villagers. You can actually view the damage your Dinosaur has taken and also customize how it will look. Expect anything from a top hat to a suit.

At this point in development you can check out the Dinowaurs forum for a more in-depth look at this great and coming premium game. You'll even be able to partake in the actual developmental process if you can come up with some inspiring ideas. Intuition is a great developer and really listen to their fans and feedback.
