RotP #1: Teh Fancy Pants Adventures!

To any of the other contributors, Mah Territory :O. Unless you ask me nicely first in Kongregate Chat first :/.

Hey, Syl here, and welcome to the first "Reviews of the Past!" As we all know, the past is essential in finding the future (and that we have more games to review in the past :P) and this thingy will be for two times a week, mostly on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Let's start, shall we?Today, we'll look at the wonderful world of possibly one of the best Flash Platformers ever, The Fancy Pants Adventures !

- Game Review

The Fancy Pants Adventures is a game created by DrNeroCF , creator of the pie-throwing No Comment! and the greatest hits,Nuclear Eagle.

*Gameplay?* Anyway, the goal's simple. You know, it's like Mario, only that instead of a plumber, you get a stick figure with hair and pants on. Anyway, you simply get to the end of each level, represented by a door, which also represents hidden rooms to gain throphies, scribbles and more. Once you get to the end, you have to fight this... penguin boss thing which is really big. And a bit insane if you ask me.

Graphics? Sounds wierd, but a stickman in a full environment's not quite wierd, as it gives a sense of something.

Music? It's made by -API- from the NGAP. It's a pleasent soundtrack, so you should relax while playing this game. Hey hey, don't get too rel...WATCH OUT FOR THOSE SPIDERS! Ouch.

Interactivity? Arrow Keys for movement, Space to pause/quit, 's' to jump, simple and stylish. The game lets you explore the area, and also stuff.

Oh,and replay values also go to the throphies that are displayed there. Say hi Throphies.

Humor? If you think jumping on spiders is fun, than well... Yay both of us.

Overall: This is a great Flash Platformer, which is somehow one of the most popular games in Kongregate, and somehow the first to be picked by me :/. Too...wait a second, you think we're done yet? Well, you guys who came here for the reviews, go, now it's time for the extra stuff : ).

-Game Statistics

Hooray, it's time to see how well FancyPants fared in the whole internet! (If you got any other websites that you want me to monitor on, just message me in Kongregate or ask for my email.Either way.

--Kongregate

We have a 4.30 average here, which is quite alot for over 6K+ ratings. Guess we must really like people with orange pants, huh?

We also have an achievement and a challenge on this game as well! More on that later.

--Newgrouds
And in Newgrounds, the game has a score of 4.16/5 with a massive 20,000+ votes , and over 900K+ views! It's rank in scores is #298 , and it's popularity rank is #679. Yay.

We're done here, let's move on to the Card Challenge / Badge!

-Gaming Involvement

This game's been involved in Kongregate for a challenge and a badge. Yay, I'm having to do a challenge in my own mind...

--Challange#1 : Throphy Room

Hey, this's the first challenge! Neat! You can see all the throphies up there, and all. Maybe I'll do a walkthrough on how to finish Fancy Pants next time, so I'll keep this short.

Throphy #1: At the 1st level, when you get to a sign , and there's a route going down on your right, jump to the platform on the left and complete the rest.

Throphy #2: On the 3rd level, there's a door with a spiderweb at it's side. Go in there and complete it.

Throphy#3: 3rd level still,if you see a door while repelling yourself onto a ledge, run and jump to it and complete it (Hold 'S'.)

Throphy #4: 3rd level, it's somewhere on the top, but you need to drop down to get it in a curve.
Throphy #5: 5th level, and it's hidden,sooooo...just look for any hidden stuff and complete it!

Kongratulations!

You have the Rumiko Card!(Don't ask.)

--Badges

Lazyness is good...here!

Done with those two, let's move on!

-Contests Won

You'll be great to know that....

--Kongregate

This game won 1st place in the 1st weekly contest (Yay.)

This game was also a runner-up for the Kongregate Game Contest 0.Blah.

--Newgrounds

The game also won a Daily Feature, Review Crew Pick and Weekly 2nd place.Amazing.

-Final Words

Well now, this has been fun and all, with 8 hours of work posted into this walkthrough. I hoped you actually READ this entire thing, or else I'll send down some Spiders to kill you.

But wait! Come on down in a few hours time! I'll be working on the second one of the series by then.

Later!

Badge: Triangular Treachery

Triangular Treachery Badge
Game: Triangles
Level: Hard (30 points)

Requirements: Survive the cognitive onslaught long enough to score 25,000 points in Triangles

Strategy Overview: Multi task while staying on your side!

In-Depth Strategy: Try not to just focus on just one window, that's when you'll mess up on the other. To accomplish this, try sitting back further from the screen than you normally would.

At the start of the game, the keyboard window will see triangles coming from the left side, and the mouse window will see them falling from the top. To give yourself the most time possible to react, stay on the opposite side that the triangles are coming from. Try not to get lost in the barrage of shapes by weaving in and out, just stay on the wall... It makes things easier, trust me.

When the rotation happens, only focus on your mouse, your keyboard window will be fine. In fact, the rotation will put it right where you want it! Just move your cursor to the wall clockwise of the one you were just on... Dodging triangles while doing so of course!

When you get better at this, you'll find that when it gets around 20k, it gets hard. Just keep trying, and you'll get past it.

Oh, and if you are confined to a touchpad like I was, don't feel like your out of it... hey, if I did it, so can you! Read more on this article...

Lvl 14 http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/9687/specklv…

Lvl 15 http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/1363/specklv… (Imo is a lot of luck. You just have to keep trying it)

Lvl 16 http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/427/speclvl1…

Im going to try and start explaining the strategy a little bit better since people are still having some trouble.

Levels 1-8 are pretty much a gimme if you follow my pictures. Heck, some of them, you dont even have to follow my picture exactly.

Level 9 – This is the first tricky one but it’s still not too hard. You pretty much want to transport as many sparks out of the original square and into the triangles as possible. You probably won’t get all the sparks out of the square though, AND you don’t have to to win. It’s important to spread them evenly though. Once I got a sufficient amount of sparks out of the square, I put both transmitters in seperate triangles and this seemed to increase the amount of power generated to help win.

Level 10 – Just put the Collector right next to the 2nd transmitter. Easy as that.

Level 11 – This is one of the harder levels. An important part of this level is having an equal amount of sparks on each collector. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but very close. If you have an equal amount of sparks in each box and you still can’t win, you VERY SLOWLY want to start tightening up the boxes. Be sure to have the collectors right in the middle of the box also. If you start getting the walls too close without even spacing the collector, you will start to explode the sparks. If this happens, you may want to start if you lose 2 or more. If you only lose 1, you should be just fine, but just remember, more is always better.

Level 12 – Use the transmitters to transmit the sparks to each little rectangle. You WILL want to empty every last spark out of the original square. Put less sparks in the small box and more in the big box. I counted approximately 35 sparks in all for this level. You want about 5-6 in the medium box, 8-10 in the medium box, and about 17-20 in the last one. Once you get all the sparks separated accordingly, it’s pretty much just a waiting game for all the sparks to hit right.

Level 13 – Pretty easy level. Once you get the walls set up, just keep the collectors far enough from the walls so none of the sparks explode but far away enough from each other so they don’t drain energy. If you are having trouble winning, just keep tightening the vertical wall in till you get it.

Level 14 – This one can also be pretty tricky. You have to be careful about this one about not destroying sparks because of all the small angles that are created. You want to try and keep the collectors closer to the wider angles and away from the small ones. Once again, you want to keep the amount of sparks in each box equal, but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Level 15 – What I did was immediately flip the bottom side of the movable wall all the way over to the other side and then the top side to the bottom all the way over. Once you have the wall setup, there isn’t much you can do but hope that enough sparks get caught. The absolute lowest number of sparks you can have to win is 4. So after you have enough sparks, you want to SLOWLY start tightening the wall in. You will want to move it in a little closer than normal because it will take a spark almost near the point of explosion for the collector to get enough energy. If you destroy too many sparks trying to get enough energy though, you’ll just have to start over.

Level 16 – This is kinda a mix of level 11 and 14. You have to move the walls extremely close to collectors so the sparks will create enough energy but if you create the angles too close too the collectors, you will very quickly have sparks exploding on you. Once again, try to get an equal number of sparks in each box since they are all about the same size. You may also find yourself waiting a couple minutes for all the sparks to create enough energy. If you end up waiting for more than a few minutes though, you probably need to just keep moving the walls in closer, but of course need to be vigilant about creating the spaces too small so none of the sparks explode. I would suggest starting over if you lose more than 2 sparks.

And that is all the levels with pictures and a small strategy for each one. The picture of Level 11 was not taken by me so I cannot claim it as mine.

This strategy was posted by JRinke in the forums

Badge: No Orb Left Behind

No Orb Left Behind Badge
Game:Orbular
Difficulty: Impossible - 60 Points

Requirements: Reach level 15 in endurance mode in Orbular

Strategy Overview: Slow and steady wins the race.

In-Depth Strategy: The faster the ball, the easier it is to lose, so I recommend not pushing the up button so the "paddle" has less force, which allows you to get a breather in and makes the ball move fairly slowly. Never get the extra orb power up EVER, since if you lose one of those 2 balls, you lose the game. Try to get the green powerups and avoid the red ones, although don't be hesitant to pick one up if there is a good chance that you'll lose your ball by avoiding it. Keeping the ball up is your first priority, and just try to play it slowly, and you'll eventually get this badge. Read more on this article...
